Rocket Day Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes Want to know what it is like being a rocket scientist? Participate in ATK’s Girl Scout Rocket day to find out! Participants will rotate through three hands-on activities to teach the principals of engineering and rocket motor manufacturing. Older girls will also see an electron microscope with an elemental analyzer that can identify metals instantaneously. Attendees will hopefully have an opportunity to visit testing to witness a small motor firing. Throughout the day the participants will have the opportunity to interact with employees with various backgrounds (such as engineers, scientists, technicians and more) vital to the success of a rocket motor manufacturing plant. The day will conclude with a pizza lunch. WHEN: Tuesday, November 4th, 2014, 8:45 AM – 1:00 PM. WHERE: ATK Elkton, 55 Thiokol Rd., Elkton, MD (just west of the intersection of Rt. 40 and Rt 279, the Elkton-Newark Rd.). COST: $5 per girl, includes patch and lunch.
