There have been a few sightings of rats in the Clairview/ Rosemary area of our subdivision. Homeowners/ renters/ landlords are advised to take the following steps in the control of the rat issue: 1) fill all holes found on your property 2)stack fire wood 18 inches off the ground and away from buildings 3) keep garbage can lids closed tightly 4) birdfeeders and should be on poles; clean up anything on the ground 5) keep yards clean, free of debris and remover any over-growth, i.e. bushes, trees tall grasses and weeds 6) do not leave pet food outside. Pick up all pet waste. Dog waste can feed a rat for weeks. 7) check your garage, sheds and house for any openings-rats will look to these openings for shelter Per City ordinances it is the homeowners or landlords responsibility to exterminate and control rodents/ rats.
