There have been a lot questions and confusion recently about the pool passes/coupon books. I wanted to start out by explaining the coupons to those that are not familiar with them and also explain the steps that will be taken by the city to come up with a good scenario that will be the best for the patrons of the pool, the City of Council Grove and the Aquatic Center. The cost of normal entry into the pool is $3. Two different coupon books were available for purchase: The first being a blue coupon book of 30 entries for $50 ($1.67 value)/ticket, the other is a yellow 20 entries for $40 ($2 value)/ticket. Each one of these coupons can be used to gain entry into the Council Grove Aquatic Center. The City Council agreed that we as a City were not certain whether or not we would have to raise prices after the first year because we had a shortened season in 2013. In 2014 we will have a full season to see financially if a price increase is needed to help maintain operating costs for 2015. Different options that will be looked at. 1. No increase in entry cost for 2015, price will stay at $3, both yellow and blue coupons honored in 2015. More coupons created for purchase at 2013-14 costs. 2. Slight increase in entry cost for 2015, tickets purchased before pool closing or until all remaining coupons have been purchased will be honored in 2015. 3. Slight increase in entry cost for 2015, tickets purchased before pool closing or until all remaining coupons have been purchased may be submitted to city and credited at face value toward the purchase of new 2015 coupons. (example: Blue have a face value of $1.67) (No cash will be given back to costumers only transferred to the purchase of “new” 2015 tickets.) *These are only a couple of options that the CGRD advisory board will be looking at this Sunday at 6pm at the Council Grove Armory. More options may be discussed on Sunday the July 27th, and the final decision rests with the City Council.* *Please understand that the City wants to do what is best for the patrons of the Aquatic Center and what is best financially for the Council Grove Aquatic Center.*
