There have been so many of you who have been keeping us in your prayers about a certain matter, that I feel I must post to tell you all Thank you and Praise God - Ardell, his sister Christie and I were named about 3 hours after Jeannies death in a sworn statement by one of Jeannies friends since she was 4 years old as having given her pain medicine in an illegal manner intending to cause her death. We did not do this, but when someone accuses you, it does not matter - you are guilty until proven innocent. The presence of this friend was allowed by us because we thought she understood that Jeannies wish was to die at home without the assistance of doctors, ER, paramedics or even hospice, since she had been mistreated by all these people when nearing the end of her life. She had a living will that stated such. The three of us were facing possible murder charges if the statement had been judged to have enough evidence to warrant a case. We have been living with this over our heads for 3 months and 19 days not allowing us to even grieve her death as we should. But, I am very pleased to report it came to an end today. There is no case, so there will be no charge. I have shared this with very few people, because we were instructed not to talk about an ongoing investigation. Thank you so much to those of you in whom we confided so you could help us pray about this situation. God answers prayer.....and He knew we were innocent. Jeannie died from a DISEASE.....a very severe disease that is apparently as misunderstood by friends as it is by doctors. May I just say this about the friend who gave the statement......I have forgiven them a long time ago. My forgiveness for wrongs against others will not be forgiven and my prayers will be hindered if I DONT forgive...we know the Bible says this and so it is true. I know this friend was devastated, as were we by Jeannies death. PLEASE - keep your comments on this post nice. I did not post this to malign this person. I only wanted to let those of you who knew about this to know - its over. This does not make Jeannies death any easier to deal with.....we are all still grieving over the lose of this special person in our lives...and Im sure we will be for a while...Love to you all! - with Gene Pierce
