There have been some changes to the voting laws in North Dakota, and part of our challenge this election cycle will be to educate voters. Here is what you need to know: (For more information, visit https://vip.sos.nd.gov/PortalList.aspx) In-person Voting: You must show a valid ID that includes your Name, Residential Address and Date of Birth. Acceptable forms of identification include: A valid North Dakota-issued Driver’s License A valid North Dakota-issued State Identification Card (non-Driver’s License) A valid Tribal Government issued Identification Card (with residential address) A valid Student Identification Certificate (provided by college or university) A valid Long Term Care Identification Certificate (provided by a North Dakota Facility) Absentee or mail voting: All forms of ID listed above are valid for absentee or by mail voting, but you may also use the following forms of identification: A valid Passport or Military ID – Only for North Dakota residents living outside the United States who do not possess one of the other forms of ID. Attester – An applicant without an acceptable form of ID may use an Attester. The Attester must provide his or her name, North Dakota driver’s license, non-driver’s ID, or tribal ID number, and sign the absentee/mail ballot application form to attest to the applicant’s North Dakota residency and voting eligibility. Did you make it all the way through that post? Excellent! Now get out there and help us spread the word about the new requirements!
