Land size : India is slightly more than one-third the size of the United States . To accommodate such a huge population , India is the seventh largest country in the world, and covers a total area of 3,287,263 km² . 3. Language : Hindi and English are the official languages of India. National Lanuage is Hindi .The government also recognizes 17 other languages (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Nepali, Manipuri, , Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Konkani, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Marathi and Urdu). Apart from these languages, about 1,652 dialects are spoken in the country. 4. Indian Railways : Indian Railways has one of the largest and busiest rail networks in the world . The Indian Railways not just runs the world’s fourth largest railroad network but is also among the largest employers. Operates the fourth largest railroad network in the world over 63,974 route-km.
