There is a Severe Weather Alert across much of the Seventh District tonight through tomorrow morning. Temperatures will reach near-record lows. The American Red Cross has opened warming shelters that will remain open through the night. Dress in layers, and be sure to cover your ears, hands, and head. -Drive only if necessary and stay on main roads to avoid ice. -Avoid bursting pipes by wrapping or insulating exposed pipes. -Check on elderly neighbors and relatives who may be at risk during cold weather. -Bring pets inside.
