There is a comment in one of my status which I just saw. It says…even your acknowledgments are worth reading. WOW!! And the wow is not for the fact that my replies are actually worth reading but for the coining of a BEAUTIFUL term. For me, responding to some comments was a communicative way for fun filled interactions. But by answering back to many I assumed I was merely following the RTC act- sort of a Replying To Comments. It was natural. It was expected. I had to do it. And to be honest, sometimes the repetitive, ‘thank you’ ‘thank you’ ‘thank you’ even felt kind of monotonous. Yes, a general appreciation was very much a part of it. But acknowledgement was a label I associated only with books – in that one or two pages where authors get to thank all those associated with helping them out. It never occurred to me that in this ‘timeless’ world, when readers drop by to go through your bonsai books (which the whole world writes in the form of a status or a note), they also deserve a positive reception from the writer. So today let me take this opportunity to ‘acknowledge’ everyone who visits my page to leave comments. I ‘acknowledge’ even a one word comment like ‘nice’. I ‘acknowledge’ even a thoughtful comment like ‘hmmm’. I ESPECIALLY ‘acknowledge’ the Mr. India kinds- the invisible comments of people who read your status, want to write something, cannot think of anything, so quietly leave without a word. I also ‘acknowledge’ those who ‘like’ but haven’t the time to comment. I have always wanted to thank them in a special way. Just couldn’t understand how. And whether the ‘likes’ are for really liking what they see, or for merely announcing that they were here, or even for pressing the ‘like’ button because there is no ‘dislike’ button, it doesn’t matter. I am indebted to all. And thank you Sarita for this beautiful coinage. Now every time someone comments and likes, I will always be reminded of the heavy sense of gratitude in that word. And however redundant it may sound, I will keep on saying ‘Thank you’ ‘Thank you’ Thank you to each of them!
