There is a danger in embracing titles and job descriptions too tightly - even in ministry. The same holds true for mistaking gifts of service for titles and job descriptions. If were not cautious, intentional and aware - the purpose of all of the above becomes less about serving and more about self. Pride, arrogance and entitlement must be guarded against. Otherwise we run the risk of ineffectiveness and will struggle and fail to fulfill our purpose or calling by settling for such titles and job descriptions. Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. - Ephesians 4.11-13
