There is a focus on heart rate out there that isnt completely useful for weight loss. Some people believe that if they work out at a lower intensity, hence lower heart rate, they will burn more fat than if they worked out at a higher intensity, or higher heart rate. There is some truth to the idea that you will use fat more readily at a lower exercise intensity. However, this does not mean youll burn more. The confusion here is the length of exercise session. You can burn just as many calories with a high intensity exercise session that is shorter in duration than a long session performed at a lower intensity. In fact, if you are maintaining a calorie deficit for the purpose of weight lose, the harder you work the more calories youll burn. Therefore, youll lose fat faster. Tomorrow, Im going to talk a little more about this myth.
