There is a genuine disease that has been afflicting schools for many years now it is also a syndrome that is undiagnosed due to labour laws around the world. It is known under the acronym of HTD - Hypo-active Teacher Disorder. Basically any child that is not in the middle of the normal distribution curve (bell curve) is considered a problem. Should this approach to teaching be successful then the obvious and very predictable consequence is really scary, everyone is forced to become normal. Trouble is the world has way to much normal - a vast surplus in fact, we need outliers to make the advancement in the world. These are the kids at the extremes of the bell curve. What we need is teachers who understand that their chosen career requires them to teach the kids they have in front of them not some theoretical model of a child predicted by statistical analysis of the bell curves for a range of traits.
