There is a great deal of consternation and debate about Pauls - TopicsExpress

There is a great deal of consternation and debate about Pauls instruction to wives to submit to your husbands as unto the Lord. A tough thing, to be sure. Ive seen young Christian men (way back in the day when I was a young Christian man) who take this directive as license to be domineering over their wives and children. Not so often considered is Pauls directive to husbands - love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave his life for her. On the night he was betrayed, Christ washed the feet of his disciples, a task so demeaning that only the lowliest of slaves could be made to do this. What he demonstrated there was the example of a servant leader. He was modeling for us how we are to live our lives, particularly with regard to our wives and children. Servant leaders are not demanding, domineering or bullies. They treat their wives and children with love and respect. They lead their households because their wives and children love and respect them, not fear them I am convinced that, if husbands and wives would each seek to outserve the other, without keeping score, it would go a long way to the success of a marriage.
