There is a lot of debate about Raila Odingas retirement. Today in the morning, Nation FM ran a 2hr show on this. Last night on Ramogi FM Jakoyo Midiwo had many questions to answer on this. Many people arguing that he should retire sighting as many reasons for his retirement as there are for his stay. My take: Raila Odinga, like everybody else has his rights and liberty to vie for the presidency under the current constitution again and again until he will be unable to sign the nomination papers. He may not be the best candidate for the opposition but I believe that; that better candidate should show up and offer competition. If these better candidates are cowards and do not want to challenge him then they are not the better candidates. All we need to do is debate freely and publicly the reasons why he is not the better candidate and let the people decide. We must not want to eliminate an opponent to have things easy. After all there is always a lot of ammunition against an incumbent. His sycophants must be ready to hear everything and so are his adversaries.
