There is a lot of outrage about the Geronimo Stilton book with a map of the Middle East that omits Israel. The Times of Israel broke the story with a sensationalist, Like baiting headline: Biggest children’s book publisher erases Israel from map. In the article they actually include the fact that Scholastic has recognized its error and will be fixing the mistake. Yet, people are calling for boycotts. Its a little disproportionate in my opinion. Scholastic understands the problem and is correcting it. The map is also missing Syria and Lebanon. I wonder if they are boycotting too. Here is a note sent by Scholastic to a friend of mine (redacted): Dear XXXXXXXXXXXX, Thank you for your very kind email and for copying the author, editor and my Scholastic colleagues. As you can imagine, it has been a challenging day and all we really want to do is correct this error. Scholastic publish more than 600 original titles every year and we distribute thousands more from other publishers. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of everyone here, we do occasionally make mistakes. We appreciate that you realize this was not in any way intentional. We appreciate your trust in our company and we will continue to do our best to earn it every day. Sincerely, Kyle Good ------------- Can we put down the pitchforks please?
