There is a lot of talk about Big Money interests buying Florida elections. I think this chart of TV ad buys through Sept 13, 2014 in the Scott/Crist campaign provides a good illustration of how that is accomplished. It also shows why the Republicans in the U.S. Senate recently killed, by filibuster, the Constitutional Amendment to limit big money control of American politics. TV advertising is no longer a just a way for sleazy candidates to sell themselves like snake oil. TV advertising is used by big money interests to excite and control large numbers of the public, via professionally designed propaganda tools. People do not approach ads with critical thinking skills honed and ready. And, much of the attack ad mentality of todays advertising is aimed at the politically and socially ignorant and the willfully uninformed with ads are designed to play to the ego and ignorance in irresponsible ways.
