There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes of rescue, that many - TopicsExpress

There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes of rescue, that many never see. Today, I would like to share the story of two of our rescues Charlie and Bailey. The story begins with both of them being confiscated from an abusive home, and ending up in a local shelter. They were in terrible shape...malnourished, skin issues, horrible teeth, and clearly unloved. As soon as their legal hold was up, they were allowed to come into rescue with our group. From there they went into separate foster homes, and the healing began. Both required extensive vet care. We were able to give them the immediate care they needed thanks to an anonymous angel, who donated the money for all of their vet needs. Along with the necessary medical healing that our foster volunteers oversee, they also accept the responsibility of helping to heal the pups emotionally. This can sometimes be challenging, but most times it is really just a matter of patience. Dogs are such amazing creatures, and most times, no matter what they have been through in their past, they learn that it is okay to trust this person who has taken them in, and is being so kind and attentive to them. Soon they become part of the family, and this is when they are ready for a forever home. By this time in the process, we know our foster well, and have become attached. This is the time that our foster volunteers commit their time to attending events, doing home visits, and application processing. Our biggest concern is the well being of our foster, and making sure that they go to home that will fit for both the adopter and our foster. Luckily for both Charlie and Bailey...this is what happened. Charlie was adopted first, by a wonderful family. Baileys forever home took months to find, but it too, finally happened. And this friends....is the story of Charlie and Bailey.
