There is a misconception among Christians and non-Christians alike - TopicsExpress

There is a misconception among Christians and non-Christians alike that as long as I am a good person, I will get to Heaven. Nothing could be farther from the truth. While there is an expectation that we conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the Grace we have received, there is no amount of good deeds that can gain salvation. If it was about our good deeds, then salvation would be a reward for those good deeds and not a free gift. Romans 10:9-10 (NLT) If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. The above scripture is pretty plain. No where does it mention being a good person. As I said, we ARE expected to conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of our gift, but we cannot earn a trip to Heaven with being a good person.
