There is a new art revolution taking place around the world. Tattoo is now a wearable art! Our ancestors must thank god for that! In our quest for a stronger Naga identity, study of the traditional tattoos is a must. Many untold stories and beliefs of our forefathers are hidden behind those marks... We should not only appreciate the aesthetics and philosophies of our ancestors. But it is our duty to innovate and built on the rich art legacy which our forefathers have left us with. It is our duty to spread our unique identities and qualities to the world- The real Naga identities. The World Atlas of Tattoo is an initiative of the Yale University Press USA. The book is an initiative by world renown Anna Felicity Friedman, with the help of expert tattoo anthropologist Dr.Lars Krutak ( from the TATTOO HUNTER-Discovery Channel ) and others like him. The book will feature top 100 artists from Nations across the world. An excerpt from from Dr. Lars Krutak’s mail *** “Your bio (incl. the revival) would be one page. 4-6 photos of your best/favorite tattoos would be featured on the other page - of course, i really need a few Naga Tattoo revival pieces to go with what you are doing. Please also feel free to submit any masterworks that might be outside of the Naga revival. Think about it this way: If you could put 4-6 paintings of your best work in the Louvre in Paris, which ones would you want the world to see everyday? Those are the tattoos i want to see in the book.” We invite any 2 male and 2 female Nagas to receive the Naga traditional and contemporary tattoos to be featured in the book. as mentioned earlier, the work featured on the book will be the Best of the Best from all over the world. Our art must stand at par.
