There is a pivotal moment in my life that I will always remember - TopicsExpress

There is a pivotal moment in my life that I will always remember and look back on as the moment I knew. I was 17 and watching TV in my parents basement. At that time I was a die hard U2 fan and continue to love their music today. In 1995 U2 and Luciano Pavarotti collaborated on a song called Miss Sarajevo. I saw them perform this together on public television that day. As I listened to Pavarotti sing with such power and grace it awoke something inside of me that longed to be able to create such amazing sounds myself. It was the beginning of my love of classical singing. That feeling was enforced later on when I had the privledge of sharing the stage with renowned soprano, Roberta Peters. As I listened to her sing I wept and decided that I would be an Opera singer. I went to college to pursue that goal and became very sidetracked with many other things. I got married, started a business and a family and that dream faded further and further away from my life. I love my family and the photography business that we run. I would not change any of it whatsoever. That is what was SUPPOSED to happen. But now classical singing has exploded back into my life and I am so thankful to explore that dream once again. I had my first concert tonight where I truly felt that potential of what I hoped my voice could become was begining to emerge. We sang in front of a humble crowd of 10 people but it did not matter, it was not about ticket sales or the size of the crowd. It was about passion and allowing the sound and resonance within me to be released in a new and dynamic way. It was about a long lost dream that has drifted back into my reality. It was fun.
