There is a poignant and in terms of musicology interesting story about this song, The Quiet Joys of Brotherhood as gorgeously sung here by Sandy Denny with a beautiful outro by Dave Swarbrick. The song was composed by Richard Farina who wrote the book, Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up To Me. Richard married Mimi Baez the sister of Joan Baez. During the late 1960s Joan was the partner of Bob Dylan and all four of these creative people were living in the Carmel Valley area which is near Monterey, CA. Most unfortunately Richard was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1966. Mimi Farina went on to form the non-profit, Bread and Roses an organization that brought music to people in various forms of distress. Mimi passed away in 2001. While it is very sad that we have lost these talented souls including Sandy the wondrous aspect is that the music and meaningful poetry remains. youtube/watch?v=NHstyoGkMIU
