There is a raging debate about black men respecting black women. As an AA, I see it like this, a black woman needs to understand her historical worth and value. First, AA must remember we arrived from a rich land and are descendants of Kings and Queens. Respect starts at home. A black man must respect himself by developing an internal sense of self, value, destiny and determination before we can behold the beauty of our queens. Moreover, a black woman must command respect instead of demand. Commanding respects means you will accept nothing less from anyone. You, the black woman, must grip hold of the inner strength the Lord has blessed you with from birth. Both genders must learn to stand for something or fall for anything. We must nurture each other and enhance and cultivate each others weaknesses. Recognize the others weakness and stand in the ready to be the others strength when needed. Lastly, remember the 2 are partners in a society that would have you think you are inferior. Never are the 2 competitors in a quest for supremacy. When you join together your offsprings are strengthen. When we strive apart, the product is single home parenting, teen pregnancy, drug use and the filling of jail cells. Now maul upon that as my grandmother use to say.
