There is a season for every thing. Ecclesiastes 3 is the famous verses that The Byrds used to write this beautiful song. A classic that I think of every time I read it: .. A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. This season is the time of expectations. We are waiting on the birth of a Savior, sent to save the world. We celebrate this time with decorations, preparations, music, and gathering gifts for loved ones. It is part of the season. We lose the reason if we focus too much on the the things we HAVE to do, instead of the things we enjoy, or the spiritual festivities. Sharon Owens-Davis, from NJ, suffers from a chronic auto-immune disease. It brings her seasons of pain, followed by peaceful seasons. Once she realized the painful seasons would be followed with seasons without pain, she was better able to endure and wait, resting with God during her difficult time. This scripture beautifully affirms that our lives are constantly changing, growing and moving throughout many seasons. The Good News is that God gives us strength and encouragement to face each one. By faithfully enduring a painful season, we are blessed and appreciative of a peaceful time. This gratitude helps us and encourages others. How does God reveal himself to you during this season? Or are you too busy to seek Him or hear his whisper? Holy Father, help us to seek your healing hands when we suffer, and search for your loving arms in times of pain. Prepare our minds for a season of peace so we might endure our burdens with confidence.. This too shall pass. Amen. Prayer focus: Those living with chronic illness.
