There is a serious weakness in White-Spunners argument. Members of the British House of Commons are elected by people in all parts of this still United Kingdom. The great moral matters that matter in all of the United Kingdom are still decided by MPs from all of the United Kingdom. The slave trade and slavery itself were abolished by the UK House of Commons. Capital punishment for murder was ended by the UK House of Commons. Civil Partnerships were brought in by the UK House of Commons. And fox hunting, hare coursing, etc., were made illegal by the UK House of Commons. The great moral matters are British, to be determined by the British House of Commons in the British United Kingdom. May it remain thus.
