There is a settled contentment with these long evenings. I love this time of year as the daylight lingers creating a long period of dusk light. Its cold enough to chase you indoors to a burning log-fire. Chopping up brightly coloured vegetables for a warming soup, throwing the scraps in a pottery bowl for the chickens, who are starting to lay faithfully, completes the picture. These are the moments when you can agree that this creation is, indeed, good.
