There is a silent revolution going on. It is called the prosumer revolution. This revolution is brought about by the growing loss of confidence of the people on the ability of governments to serve their best interest. Governments have been infiltrated by the companies of the elite such that everything basic to human survival have been converted to profit generating machines. Regulatory bodies that are supposed to care for the protection of environment, health of the consuming public and provision of affordable energy have become chummy with private businesses miserably failing on their jobs. We now see in the markets fruits and veggies soaked in pesticides and formalin, fish fed with chicken manures full of antibiotics, chickens fed with arsenic growth enhancers, GMO cereals like wheat, corn and rice which have been proven will ill effects to humans, food products with harmfull flavor enhancers, preservatives and artificial food colors, medicines that just alleviate symptoms but do not cure, smoke belching vehicles and factories, monopolistic power and energy structures curtailing development of renewable energy and the like. Consumers in droves are turning to self production of the things they need. These are the prosumers and it is a movement gaining ground the world over.
