There is a simple solution to the immigration problem. We should invade and take over Mexico, which is a corrupt and inefficient nation. We could first annex it as a territory and eventually integrate it into the Union as a set of new States. One could reasonably argue that recent acts on the part of Mexico have violated the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo of 1848. Mexico would offer no real military resistance and I believe that most of the Mexican people (outside of the small corrupt oligarchy which now exploits them) would welcome the change. I am not joking here. The current situation in North America is not stable and this would go a long way towards fixing things. It would also give millions of Mexicans better lives under a freer political system.
