There is a story of a famous architect who was about to retire. His boss called him I to his office to give him his last project. He told him it was a house for a very special client, and that he should go all out because the company really wanted to impress this client. Over the next few weeks the man meticulously crafted what he though was a perfect home. It had all the bells and whistles, a pool, a master bedroom with a hot tub, a three car garage with a work out room in the loft. As he turned in his final design, his boss was impressed. This might be your best work in 35 years! Was his exact remark. Without much fanfare, he packed up his stuff, said goodbye to his co workers and left his office for the last time. In around 6 weeks his phone rang, and he saw it was his old office calling. We need you to come in and finish some paper work said his former employer and I have a couple things for you When he arrived he was met at the door. Come with me, I got word the house you worked on is finished, I need to go meet the client, and I am sure he will want to thank you for the work you did. As they turned the corner, the house was everything the engineer has envisioned. It looked out over the lake, and was beautifully constructed. When they got out of the car, the boss hit a button on the key chain and the garage door began to open. As it did the engineers co workers, friends, and family came piling out, with cake and balloons in tow. The boss looked over at the engineer and said Sir, thank you for your business, we hope you are pleased with your new house Wha-t? Was all the engineer could manage to get out as a tear rolled down his cheek. His boss simply replied the house you have built, will be the home you now live in. See the truth is, in each of our lives, the house we are building is the home we will live in. Even if we dont realize it at the moment, all the decisions we make, all the things we do, have an effect on the home we are building for ourselves and our family. Today trust His grace, and mercy, lean on Him and rest in the finished work of Christ. Build a house, and make a home, that honors Jesus.
