There is a superb review in todays SAIPAN TRIBUNE (the main paper here) about my concert here last Saturday. Obviously, am pleased to see that. There are comments there that the concert was an historic musical moment for the Northern Marianas. Well, they will get a second recital here, with a different program, this coming Saturday, and Ill try to keep those keys smokin! Today is Covenant Day here (when the Northern Marianas became a Commonwealth in 1976 after being one of our Pacific trust territories after WWII and the people here then became US citizens). It is a holiday here. I am off this afternoon to the island of Rota (half-hour flight) where I will have a recital tomorrow and probably play in the school there. It is the smallest of the three main island of the Northern Marianas and has the most traditional lifestyle among the Chamorro people of the three (it was not damaged during WWII). Looking forward to my two days there before returning here Wed. night.
