There is a systematic blowback against Black Lives Matter First - TopicsExpress

There is a systematic blowback against Black Lives Matter First came the Police Benevolent Associations president, Peter Lynch attack on Mayor Diblasio, saying He has the blood of the assassination officers on his hands. Now comes the Fraternal Order of Police demanding that Congress should make attacks on police officers Hate Crimes. Excuse me????!!!! Assaulting police officers is both a federal and state crime. Such attacks are major felonies. Enacting additional laws to make such assaults designated as Hate Crime may seem superfluous, but it give the added standing of Civil Rights legislation to such assaults. What is so striking this, is that it becoming a clear strategy to transform offending police officers, especially accused police officers facing grand jury hearings to adjudicate whether there was use of excessive force, as seeming to be victims of Black and Brown criminal behavior, now being victims of hate crimes. All of this is a very clever strategy to defang and defuse the mass mobilization of people organizing to protest against two facts: One, the alarming rate of police homicides of unarmed Black and Brown men and youths that are racially profiled by offending police officers; Two, the demonstrated fact that almost all of these police shootings result in the exoneration of these police officers. These shootings are accomplished with near totally impunity! These are protests remind us that to fail to address the alarming rate of these police shootings has the horrific effect of normalizing these shootings, normalizing the criminalization of Black and Brown men and youth. These protests are NOT in any way about hating police officers, or police departments. These protesters very much want fair and equitable community policing of their beleaguered urban areas.
