There is a very serious malware going around, it is called Crypto Locker. It is a very bad piece of ransomware, and some IT professionals are saying there is no way to get rid of it completely. There is a way to help prevent it though, you can download a free tool called Crypto Preventer at this link: foolishit/vb6-projects/cryptoprevent/. It is also a great idea to go into the security settings of your computer. Go to the control panel, under the system tab and un-check allow remote assistance connections to this computer. That will help prevent Crypto Locker and othe ransomware or malicious malware programs from running on your computer. I installed Crypto Preventer on my pc and Marias laptop today. Also it can never be said loudly enough, do not visit unsavory sites, do not open emails or download attachments unless you are 110% sure you know where it came form and you know it is legitimate. Even then, be very suspicious of any attachment. Right click the link and scan it with Web Of Trust or a similar program first before you open it. Use a non-privileged account for ordinary day to day use of your computer, so if you happen to stumble on malware or ransomware you may at least get a Windows alert that the malicious program wants to run on your computer. Crypto Locker and many other malware programs have to be run, you have to click on a link or open an attachment before they can infect your computer. Be careful what you click on, use a good antivirus program and back your files up regularly.
