There is a video on FB regarding a young mother who suffered a lack in judgment by leaving her child is her SUV... running...with air.... watching a DVD...within her line of vision while she was buying shoes. Fortunately someone saw it...recorded it...and called the police. They also put it on FB with what I can assume was good intentions of reminding us that stupid still happens. The sad part is the video showed her tag number verifying someone in the home is an educator and a sticker showing her sons name and the school attended. Also the Atlanta news is involved interviewing the woman who found the baby watching TV alone. So more Georgians will learn of her mistake. I have made numerous bad judgement calls. Thankful the power of social media didnt exist during my most stupid years. The part that tears my heart out... she will now be tried mercilessly in the courts of social media which is significantly worse than the legal system. She made a bad judgement call...absolutely. So to the young woman who thought well enough to save this child.... THANK YOU!!! But perhaps....just perhaps...one day you might look back at the potential destruction this social ambush will cause both she and her family...and you might realize that you also made a bad judgment call by handling this so publicly. We all make bad choices that hurt others. Some will say this is just the world we live in. Considering the power we have with social media, it is our responsibility to have the foresight and experience to realize it is up to us to help and not hurt in the process. In the end...this educator might lose her job...her child... her privacy... her reputation... her life she knows it just because of public opinion and not just her mistake. In my opinion, this should have been handled by the authorities and not Facebook. You may disagree.
