There is a viral video floating around the internet, of Mallika Sherawat in a press conference about silencing a journalist, who questioned her. And a lot of voices are saying, this video has somehow redeemed herself, from the slamming she received for her interview to VARIETY magazine, from different quarters, including fellow actresses and women’s organizations. She said she spoke the TRUTH, and that’s what really unnerved a lot of people here! Well, she did speak the TRUTH about the abysmal treatment of women in this country, But her double-speak, hypocrisy and selective ‘activism’ stinks big time. Firstly, Ms Sherawat, went to Hollywood, to explore her prospects, enamored as she was by all the attention, she received, which she craves for immensely. After a few blink-and-a-miss roles in Jackie Chan movie, and another couple in Hollywood, she somehow thought that her career graph was ‘RISING’, in her enthusiasm, she was donning a hat of an accomplished Hollywood actress! And in the same vein, like many a westerner talking, it was ‘fashionable’ to slam the regressiveness of the Indian environment was, went on a vitriol, in the Variety magazine interview, about how her life had become wonderful after moving to LA, and how ‘DEPRASSING’, it was to go back to India. Because of the way, the way the women were treated. Fair enough! Women here are treated BADLY, here, by men! And if moving to another country, helps the situation, then, one should surely do it. And besides, moving to LA, she also acquired an American Accent, in quick time, and funnily enough, most Indians living in America for donkeys years, still don’t have an accent! After the initial GLAMOUR, GLITZ and the FLEETING ATTENTION SPAN of Hollywood, which waned quickly, she realized, her dreamy HOLLYWOOD career isn’t going anywhere ! All of that dried up! She then lands a role, in the Indian version of ‘The Bachelorette’, and this show is about looking for an ‘Indian’ man to marry, in the same DEPRASSING ‘India’, that she had scorned at! Sure, ‘ THE BACHELORETTE’ is an American show, but Mallika Sherawat was not going to be featured in the American version of ‘The Bachelorette’, anytime soon, now was she? And needless to say, the funds for the Indian version, will only come from India. So she goes to go back to the ‘DEPRASSING’ India, to MARRY one of those REGRESSIVE men in India!..lol..And to top it all, as a total SELL OUT of the so-called ‘ progressive values’ she holds, she does a ‘cringing’ seductive ‘Marilyn Monroe’ birthday wishing publicity stunt for the Indian version of the ‘The Bachelorette’ show, for a 60-year-old Indian PM Wannabe, who kicked his own wife onto the streets, leaving her to fend for herself, and he has used state machinery to sleazily, stalk and snoop his out-of-wedlock girlfriend! Besides great many Evil things in the past. He according to Mallika Sherawat is the ‘India’s Most Eligible Bachelor!’..lol So we get it! As long as the money is coming!, Mallika Sherawat does not mind being in a DEPRASSING country, as opposed to a supposed liberated one. But just like Mallika Sherawat has the right to criticize and ditch this DEPRASSING country (and then change her stand when she needs something out of it!), and its regressive environment, she should have the spirit, of taking criticism, from the people of this country (which made you in the first place!) for being a sold-out, fake, double-speaking, ungrateful person, she truly is !.. Redemption, my ass!
