There is actually a silver lining in the dark cloud that hung over - TopicsExpress

There is actually a silver lining in the dark cloud that hung over the death of two horses at the Melbourne Cup. One died of heart failure after being eased in the running by his jockey, the other PTS after breaking his leg (frightened by an idiot race goer who waved a flag in his face) That is that there has been a backlash against fundraising agendas of the activist groups trying to destroy racing. The racing industry is out there with facts and surveys, statistics and data. They, the pressure groups pushed too fast, and exposed themselves. As a crucial part of the second life of thoroughbreds this group needs to protect the brand of the OTTB from being damaged by these people. There are no steriods in SA racing, the use of medication is tightly controlled. There are no truck loads of rejected racehorses being sent to mythical slaughter houses. Its in the interests of our horses for the industry to publish the facts and for us to discredit the agendas of these bodies. We need to keep the brand OTTB where it should be. It makes sure that these horses are in demand.
