There is all kinds of nuance to the concept of being underrated. You can achieve a high level of success in the profession as one of the great virtuoso saxophone players in the music, but not fitting the proper narrative ....you are forgotten or not taken seriously as a great contributor....I look to Charlie Ventura as an example of this particular type of injustice........No one played the instrument better and no one with that command, used it to orchestrate with such a varied sound palate on such a range of the instrument.....None of this is hey look at me ....Charlies chops are used not just shown ............This is just a tip of the hat to a great one that was an model and influence for since my Father introduced me to Dark Eyes..!
