There is also a species of Japanese wasp that are usually 2 inches in length and have a 3 inch wingspan, they go around murdering colonies of bees for honey. First they send out single scout hornet to scan the landscape for bee colonies, and once they find one they release a pheromone trail and head back to notify their own colony. Once the bees notice the giant hornet around their nest they release their own pheromone to notify the other bees in order to surround the giant hornet to begin to violently flutter their wings to warm their bodies and overheating the hornet before it can get back to its hive.
