There is an estimate of more than 300 million guns in the hands of private citizens; one for every man, woman and child in the country. Many people say that the ability to enact reasonable gun control is a ship that sailed — left the harbor — and sank. I say that the 2nd Amendment is NOT a suicide pact and things can be done. We can start with universal background checks, ballistic fingerprinting and registration, and mandating gun locks. It will not stop the insanity, but we have to do something to slow it down. I have no desire to take your guns, but goddammit you CAN NOT HAVE MY CHILDREN!
