There is an ongoing, mostly silent war on black and brown people in this country waged in part through the police and prison systems. My sister-friend was arrested by NYPD last night in Harlem for being black, basically. Palestinians are being ethnically cleansed (since 1948) - and the US govt is funding and supporting it - for being Palestinian, basically. Refugees created by US foreign policies (such as supporting dictators and backing damaging free trade agreements) are criminalized (too often lethally) at the US-Mexico border for being brown and poor, basically. I know there is more than race in the equation - but seriously, are we all so disempowered that we cannot change this?
