There is another thing about golf that stimulates me to no end - TopicsExpress

There is another thing about golf that stimulates me to no end which is the capability professionals have to consistently shoot below par and then in a statement loaded with “tongue in cheek” complain that they are playing sub-standard golf. I hate then when I know that “if” I get a par I want to do cartwheels. It is also bears to reason with me that a “birdie” (one below par) is nothing short of miraculous. There are many things I could say but my memory records that once in the past 50 years of playing golf, I managed an eagle which is two under par, and was nine inches away “once” from getting a hole-in-one thereby winning a Pontiac Bonneville motor car, but that was not to happen. Here is something we can all learn from this – each person has a certain standard they set for themselves and they are content to operate in this life from that standard. Difficulties arise when those same people who are in leadership expect that their higher standards are going to be replicated by the people working with them. They can encourage and stimulate in that direction, but oftentimes in their zeal to get their will done, they are going to be bitterly disappointed or worse, they will become intolerant of people that are pushing and trying so hard to get to a certain standard and find a way to dismiss them. It is time for wisdom to take its proper place in our leadership lives as we press into the highest and best.
