There is currently an annual one billion dollar illicit cannabis - TopicsExpress

There is currently an annual one billion dollar illicit cannabis market in the state of Tennessee that does not benefit the state, nor Tennessee residence, but to the contrary, it burdens Tennessee taxpayers with over crowed jails; it wastes law enforcement resources that could be used toward the investigation and prosecution of more serious crimes, like murder, rape, and crimes against children. The absolute worse part of this whole picture is patients being denied medical access, and stifling the advancement of cannabinoid sciences in relation to health, as well as, stifling novel therapeutic applications. In existence are thousands of scientific documents that validates the potential cannabis has as medicine, that could be used in a broad range of illness, disease and medical conditions, as well as, a preventative for many of these conditions, such as ALS, Alzheimers, and Parkinson Disease...as well as prohibiting cancer growth, and stopping cancer from metastasizing. To make legislative reform a reality in Tennessee requires more than waving signs and posting information online and on facebook. Legislative reform requires participation in intelligent dialogue with those elected to represent you, and who have the ability to actually change these laws. We can blame current law on Reefer Madness, Big Pharma, or several other entities that keep opposing reform based on outdated ideology, and which is not supported by any scientific facts or data to support their resistance from lifting these draconian laws, but in reality, We The People have not been doing a well enough job in engaging our legislators, policy makers, and public officials in dialogue that brings forth the science and data. A few of us are actively trying to change this, but we would love a little assistance in reaching out to our state and federal lawmakers. Current state and federal laws prohibit, or grossly restrict, Americans safe access to a safe medical alternative, and this alone forces many patients into taking the more dangerous conventional methods that involve highly addictive prescription medicines that can easily lead to accidental overdose, damage to the body and mind, and in reality create more harm than good to our society and communities as a whole. My short term goal is to help push legislative change in Tennessee to the benefit of all, with the ultimate goal of seeing legislative changes in the advancement of cannabinoid science in the development of cancer treatment, in addition to all the other chronic and terminal illnesses cannabis could safely address. Consider for a moment that you have an opportunity to speak out for change that could help save the life of a child with an intractable seizure disorder like Dravet syndrome, or perhaps help save the life of a combat veteran who due to PTSD and combat fatigue is considering suicide. Consider for a second anyone you have personally known who is, or has been, in the battle against cancer, or suffering with ALS, Alzheimers, or Parkinson Disease... and consider, if you will that a simple phone call to your state representative, state senator, U.S. senators, and U.S. congressman can have a significant impact on legislative reform when you share the data and science with them. I am not asking for donations, I am not seeking anyone to wave signs or carry on a protest, I am merely reaching out to friends and family to take a simple small step for compassionate change, for those who need it most...contact your legislators. You can wait until we lose more of our friends and family to terminal and chronic illness, or you can help by engaging lawmakers. Get Involved!
