There is much I want to say. Left-politics is powerless because its caught in a self-imposed impasse: anarchist localism wedded to a nostalgic anti-capitalist, anti liberal, rhetoric no longer moored in an actionable, historical, and conceptual vision. Our laudable attention to participation and particularity must be welded once more to a non-coercive universal and internationalist democratic vision. This means making use of our constitutive power in the arena of those maligned left liberal practices and institutions: constitutional and legal reform, nationally and internationally. An appropriate national and international legal regime is a necessary condition to cage the beast (GC), and we wont achieve it without pluralistic participatory struggle. History (in Fs sense) is not over. Sites of struggle will and do decisively involve subjugating global capital, overcoming extant legacies of colonialism, redressing global climate, economic, (and other) injustices, etc. Without an explicit framework, legal and otherwise, well keep spinning our wheels: winning this and that local battle while losing the war. In other words: give up left-anarchist anti-normative, anti-statistist negativism; creatively appropriate and use the best in the left-liberal tradition, which in truth seem the only tools available at present to effectively and decisively engage.
