There is no doubt as to when this house was built, the date 1899, clearly inscribed in ornate wood carvings in the peak of the front gable. Although the clapboard siding on this house is relatively quiet compared to the scallops and embellishments on some Le Raysville homes, Tom Morse, the builder, spared no time, material or expense in decorating many open panels on the dwelling. A beautiful star and scroll design appears in the gable of the front porch and is identically repeated in the upper gable between the second and third floors. The home was originally built for Samuel and Millicent Davies, who occupied it until 1911 when it was sold to Miles and Sabra Allyn. Mrs. Charles York has occupied the home, located on Second Street, for the past twelve years, having purchased it in 1957 from Clement A. Pratt who purchased it in 1934. Lumber for the home came, of course, from the Johnson Furniture Factory located just to the rear of the home. copied from an article in a 1969 source
