There is no easy way to say honest and sometimes difficult things to people that you love. However, keeping these things bottled up can do more harm. You become distant with/to the people that mean the most to you. If love is to survive, a willingness to listen, to tune into the needs of your life partner are necessary as well as a willingness to listen to their concerns. You must always be willing to talk and express your concerns as well. As hard as it is to listen to your short comings, remember it is just as hard for them to hear theirs and to tell you if yours. Love is a two way street. Mutual respect and compromise are necessary in order to thrive, not just survive.
