There is no known case of a healthy wolf attacking and killing a human in North America. Even many of the legends involving wolves from Europe may actually have been based on feral Roman devourer dogs. You see, the Romans raised dogs to eat human flesh, and would send these dogs out in to an enemy formation to create panic, but after the fall of the Roman Empire, no one could take care of the dogs. Many of the descriptions of the "wolves" from French myths in particular do not match any known species of wolf, often having bright red hair or immense bald patches. Washington state in particular could benefit from having more wolves and fewer man-eating cougars.
