There is no level of trouble, and no depth of discouragement that God cannot pull us out. When I read Psalms 106 and 107 in particular it is amazing to read how far the children of Israel went in their unfaithfulness to the Lord. Many times they failed to trust him and the covenant he gave and they found themselves caught up in Idolatry and sin. Yet each and every time the children of Israel called out to God in repentance the Lord was willing and able to deliver. Most of us will never be as bad as the children of Israel were (we will never put our children through the fire as sacrifice to strange gods). So we should take courage and understand that the God that we serve is: compassionate, full of grace and mercy, not willing that we should perish...but he desires that we come always and willing to him in repentance. We are never to far from the mercies of God.
