There is no measure to my sadness today. Mornings do not prepare - TopicsExpress

There is no measure to my sadness today. Mornings do not prepare you for a shock like this. Pran sir was a constant part of our childhood. Chacha Chaudhary was always there. Ubiquitous. And Pran sir through four decades continuously drew and wrote Chacha Chaudhary stories for children. And he kept his stories for children. The stories were clean, there were no swear words, and even violence and bloodshed were kept minimal (explosions did not kill people), his jokes always brought a smile on your face, and Chacha Chaudhary by his brain or by sheer luck or Saboos brute force managed to outsmart bank robbers/smugglers/would-be-despots/Dhamaka Singh. There was a serious series of tales too, Chacha Chaudharys Raka arc. Raka brutally killed people, and he could not be killed. Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu found increasingly inventive ways to keep him captive (putting him in deep sea, burying him under a mountain) but he always escaped. This was an arc which sadly will not get completed now. Pran sir updated his comics with the advent of technology, but he kept his focus on the ailing of the common man. His comics were a comfort to us all. Like other icons, he was an architect to many generations of childhood. Today the world is a slightly worse place. Goodbye sir, thank you for your comics
