There is no promised land in this life. Ive heard sermons preached, comparing Israels migration into the promised land to our coming to Christ. Not so. All of us were born as slaves in Egypt and for the duration of our lives that we did not know Christ, be it a decade or five decades, we were citizens of Egypt. Third class citizens at that. Yet one like unto Moses gave the edict to Pharoah to let us go and we have now entered into the wilderness. Therefore this entire life, until we are with Christ, is a wilderness. All who are in Christ are in the wilderness. We are pilgrims in a land not our own until our citizenship is finally manifested in its fullness, in the Kingdom to come. As Israel was given glimpses of glory and provision while in the wilderness, we too are given glimpses of that heavenly country we seek after yet none of us have attained.
