If you doubt who the officer is, call 911 and ask if they have an officer out at your location. If the dispatcher says no, then request they send one. The public is getting bad information thus escalating a non-violent encounter. Most likely, the DA will not prosecute. However, this incident never needed to happen had the driver stayed in the vehicle and called 911 if they didnt trust who stopped them.
