There is no room for people feeling offended in a college or university. The liberal arts cannot take hold in an arena of intimidation. If people are not free to hold forth on their current world view in an atmosphere of academic freedom, then they will be denied the robust exchange of ideas which is the absolute prerequisite for adopting a new world view, for growth. The offended need to grow up, to live the diversity and tolerance they preach. If I were granted the ability to purge colleges of every thought, word, and deed that I found morally objectionable, the places would be damned near empty. Growth is a process, but it cannot proceed if people are muzzled. Everyone loses with this stupidity.
