There is no such thing as homeless people. There are however, - TopicsExpress

There is no such thing as homeless people. There are however, PEOPLE facing homelessness. Thats a big difference. Their reality reminds us of our reality: we are ALL looking for home. The idea of home, after all, is quite the shape shifter, isnt it? It shows up & disappears like a mirage in a desert. People, however, do not shape shift. They are HERE in the world. People are not intangible ideas in our heads like home or employment around which we have mental border skirmishes at the expense of people. When ideas are more important than people, we create isolation, we create distance, & we create war. If anothers living situation makes us feel uncomfortable, its because we are wrestling our idea of their situation, not the actual person. If I can acknowledge a person today as a valuable being more than the idea of what it means to have or not have a home a wondrous thing happens - the feeling of home happens. If we stretched the idea walls of home & of wallets (& thereby the expression of our hearts), what a beautiful place our life would become - to see ALL people as an important part of ourselves. Isnt that home? Perhaps then, my attitude towards another eases or exacerbates homelessness. Tonight, Im sending waves of love to my friends & family who have ever faced or are facing homelessness. You are a gift to our world. You are a gift in my life. You are so brave. You show me what courage looks like. You help me to rethink what home is & I thank you...
