There is nothing more disarming than having someone look you in - TopicsExpress

There is nothing more disarming than having someone look you in your eye and say, I was wrong and I am sorry or Its my fault, I take full responsibility I find it to be a rare and courageous individual who is able to do that. We make excuses, we hide, we get defensive, and we go on the offensive. However, if you think about a time when you were REALLY REALLY mad or hurt and someone says, Im sorry, it was my fault simply and without any but you made me do it...., you will most likely notice the shift in your energy, the willingness for you to forgive. I was reminded how important this is, even from strangers. Driving into work this morning, I was inches from being hit by a car, going about 80 mph, who decided to cut across 3 lanes of traffic. I think it scared them too because they slowed down instantly. I honked my horn and then, when I could, pulled up next to them. They refused to acknowledge me....I blared my horn, furious now. All I wanted was an Oops, my bad....that would have been enough. I would have mouthed an apology, I would have said something, I would have taken responsibility. I hope that our children learn this lost art.... its something we seem to have forgotten.
